MOSCOW More than 100 people have been killed and 50 others were missing in massive landslides in the former Soviet Republic of Tajikistan, the Russian television TV Center reported Wednesday, citing the Tajik Interior Ministry. Several bridges and roads were destroyed and around 1,000 homes swept away after a week of heavy rains in the region of Khotlon in southwest Tajikistan, the television said.

The Tajik government is calling on the International Aid Community to help the tiny mountainous Central Asian republic deal with the crisis. (AFP)
